  1. Barack Obama just dodged the mess out of the first question, going from jobs to his wife? Cute. He's spending half of his speech on a chance to talk about how bad the economy. I do believe in a fair amount of his ideas (WOOHOO CLEAN ENERGY AND HIGH SPEED RAIL!) Barack Obama also seems kinda unprepared, happy debating!
-Andrew Dunham, gimme my credit Ms. G.

  2. Props to Romney for actually answering a question. Might not be talking about himself, but at least he seems prepared. Seemed pretty sound and logical until the trickle down, to boot. Point one, Mitt.

  3. Obama's off his game tonight, sure, but Romney keeps saying he "knows how to fix the problems in this country." Oh really? How, Mitt? How? Stop telling us what you don't believe in and tell us what you do believe in! Also, Obama be careful with your use of hyperbole. It almost always bites you in the butt in debates.

  4. Clean coal, Romney? Good one. You sound educated.

  5. Romney's making a much better argument so far guys. Sorry my liberal homies. I agree with everything he says except the drilling and coal mining, especially on public lands. No drilling in national parks man. Makes me think of BP and Blair Mountain. I want Bill Clinton.

  6. All Obama seems to be talking about is his tax cuts. Valid point about Romney and small businesses though, he said he knew small businesses but i wouldnt call Bain small

  7. I agree, Andrew. My beliefs are very liberal, not gonna lie, but I'm not gonna let my personal beliefs cloud my analysis of the debate. Mitt is crushing Barack. I don't know much about economics, but he is calmer, he speaks more fluently, he seems to know what he's saying. Obama needs to step it up it's true. That being said, though, we seem to be going around in circles. Romney is saying the same thing over and over again. Though Romney is saying it better doesn't mean WHAT he's saying is better. Denying and denying does not make an argument.

  8. He likes big bird. That'll get him elected...

  9. Emma, Obama's doing just as much talking in circles as Romney, if not more. This seems like a two point argument that we've heard plenty of times in other speeches by both candidates. Somebody, please say something new

  10. Does Romney keep lying when he says he doesn't believe in a multi trillion dollar fix to the economy or does Obama have false facts?

  11. I think Jim Lahrer is getting frustrated with Romney for interrupting him. It's bugging me too. Oh and really? Like a woman could actually walk up to a presidential candidate to grab his arm and tell him her story, well I didn't know how humble he was. It's also so comforting to know that our possible future president likes Big Bird, although he would probably put him out of a job.

  12. Good point, Grace. And Sam, I agree. In that one segment specifically, it was just Obama poking facts at Romney and Romney denying them. It's frustrating. Romney's circular argument was just more noticeable to me because he was more on the defensive at the particular part. Also, these personal anecdotes are taking up a lot of time and not really strengthening their arguments.

  13. Raising taxes is not nesasarilly a bad thing. If people can't afford then that's not good but if people are wealthy enough to afford it, then it wouldn't be such a bad idea. With the money from taxes, the goverment could put it torwards good education which is what we really need right now. With people getting good education, they will have more job oppurtunities.

  14. Mark, both of them are bending facts as far as possible to support their own views, just short of the point where they're lying, but far enough that they're not necessarily true

  15. Lily, that's what Obama wants to do--tax the wealthy more

    1. Yeah I know Obama wants to but Romney keeps talking about jobs but not the education.

    2. that's what im saying, obama only talks about taxes and romney only talks about jobs, no matter what the question is. It's all bad politics

  16. This isn't very inspiring at all from either sides. Also, the thing is Lily, raising taxes extremely on the rich is basically a punishment for success. I agree for a fair share, but we cannot rely on the rich to hold up the poor, because the poor are growing. Not taking Romney's or Obama's side at all, GARY JOHNSON 2012! Look him up!

    1. It's not a punishment. I'm not saying the rich should give a lot more money in taxes but a little bit more wouldn't really even effect them.

    2. like Obama said, someone with a private jet doesnt need a tax cut on that jet; they can put up that money

  17. Anyone else notice that both candidates would rather talk medicare/medicaid over the rest of the economy?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Romney, let the poor man talk. please.

  19. There aren't that many corporate jet owners, raising taxes on them would do something, but compared to our deficit, it would be minor at best.

  20. Okay but it's not like cutting PBS would make much of a dent either.

  22. How does that even make sense? 20% of people will lose insurance when Obamacare takes effect? Someone wanna explain?
