Hi! It's Ms. Gallagher here, awaiting your comments, questions, and posts about tonight's debate. Please post it all. I'm excited to be watching this debate with you. Welcome! Show starts at 8pm.
I think that it is very fitting that the economy gets three questions. It is also interesting that the candidates are asked to emphasize the differences in their policies as well. I think that it is good that Romney chose to outline his economic plan, because people claim that he does not have one. Romney also outlined things that people like about Obama, that he supports small businesses, middle income americans, and education. Energy is also mentioned a lot. Obama just mentioned that the deficit must be closed before we invest in alternative energy, do you think that the deficit will be closed enough during this term to make environmental issues relevant in terms of mitigating global warming? I do not believe so.

Mr. P here...Romney going after healthcare board. I'm reminded on Sarah Palin's "death panels." Pull the plug on Grandma anyone? Tough argument I think...Obama's seems to have hit his stride with healthcare.
Personally I find it absolutely hilarious how much trouble Jim Lehrer is having. I think that Obamacare is a good idea because it prevents insurance companies from doing ridiculous things; however, Romney makes a good point that it must be a bipartisan plan, and that unelected people in government should not make significant decisions.
To answer Romney's incentive based plan, a multitude of scientific studies have shown that incentives not only do not assist in getting results, but also hinder getting those results (these studies have been done on larger systems, do you think that they apply to hospitals?)
"What is the role of government?" - Why didn't we start with this question Jim L.??? Great question to ask presidential candidates AND high school students.
Romney's going back to points he's been over already tonight. It's a brand new question, he has an opportunity to give new answers, why isn't he taking it? It's making him look bad
I think both candidates are being a little repetitive, and I'd rather look up the facts around Romney's and Obama's plans than hear them argue about them. With all the dispute and "facts" that these two candidates are throwing around, it's impossible to know what to believe. I believe that in future debates when the questions are about foreign affairs and civil rights Obama's gonna blow Romney out of the water, but with this I really don't know who to believe.
I completely agree. Most people and especially young people prefer Obama's civil rights policies and his opinions on social issues (e.g. same sex marriage, etc.).
Now this is the question that mattered, if both of them had been more...polite...then we could've heard what's actually going to make a difference after the election. Great job guys
I'm recording this so I'm a lot farther behind than everyone else but I really do think we've been hearing a lot of the same things over and over again as well as Romney claiming that his plan is completely different from how Obama says it is. The thing that keeps bothering me though is that Romney doesn't really seem to understand that he needs to wait his turn to speak, at least that's what I'm seeing. Though both of them are having a lot of trouble staying within the two minute time span.
Ms. Gallagher, may we do this on the 16th, too? I think the town hall style of debate will allow for a lot more questions on social issues. I think we could have an interesting discussion about it. I know for me personally those issues are much more fun to debate.
After viewing Romney last night, how many want to see this man in the White House? Romney said he would increase the paycheck, but where is he going to get the money?
Romney said we arn't far away from having best education in the world. Is that really true?
